A while back Property Debt Collection Ltd chased me on a debt owed to a management company. The debt was £900 and I was trying to resolve some items with the management company, they replied to some emails then it went quiet for 3 months. A flurry of emails happened and then radio silence for 4 months. The management company then replied suggesting a meeting.

The meeting was held but unknown to me a few days beforehand the management company had set PDC on me. I received a letter from PDC chasing £900 and they added a £490 fee.

I complained about the fee and also emailed the management company explaing what I was paying, £580, and why. They haven't responded to my claim that £320 of the management charge are items that can't legally be demanded.

I've heard back from PDC last week saying my complaint is dismissed and their fee remains outstanding. They say pay £490 or we pass it to solicitors.

Next step?

Are PDC governed by the Financial Ombudsman?

Any help welcomed

yes they can add it - and more if they want to

however obviously they can't get it from you until they go to court and get a judgement against you
  • Hello OP

More of a question for the House Buying board as it concerns management issues, I've request the thread be moved.

Generally speaking you can ignore debt collector fees but if you lease or agreement with the management company mentions such fees I'm not sure if that impacts the position.

    £490 sounds blooming steep.
