Vanilla gift card/credit card

Hello
Recently I retired, I was given for a leaving present a £100 vanilla gift card purchased at sainsburys by my ex colleagues. So far I have not been able to use it. I have tried various outlets such as marks and spencer and sainsbury themselves to use it! It does not work. The website for this card has been in maintenance mode for over 4 weeks. I tried to purchase items on line and I know the limit is £40 per item but this doesn’t work either. I was wondering if any one else was having issues using these types of gift cards? The reviews are shocking and I would like to warn anyone NOT to purchase

Hi I have the same issue and unable to use £150 of vanilla gift cards. If you google ABC news the company Incomm who owns vanilla are accused of scamming the public and fraudulently being sold in Walmart stores in the US (incidentally ASDA is owned by them where I purchased my cards) However, they are still available to buy in ASDA. I have reported them for fraudulently selling gift cards that have ZERO value. Unfortunately, there is no recourse in the UK and CAB are unqualified to help you with a resolution. Im surprised that Martin Lewis has not picked up on this and investigating the issue. I am personally fed up with banging my head against brick wall and have had to write this off as a loss. I daren't report this issue to my credit card as this will be the second time I have been scammed.0
