Did my shop today. Had a list of about 10 things and came out with about 20 as lots of yellow stickies so spent a total of £27.46 when I should have spent about £12.74 mind you that included dishwasher tabs which were half price, two chickens and a big bag of catfood which should do the rest of the month.

Spend so far: £158.95 left for three weeks: £41.05_pale_ . Off to clean upstairs then will do an inventory of my freezers and see what meals I can plan for as little money as possible.

Hi Everyone. Please can I join in, albeit a bit late! Have been off the OS wagon since about September and I sooooo need to get back into a routine again. Have inventoried freezer and cupboards and was pleased to find I have quite a bit in, so am going to have very strict month on £150. This is from 1st January until I get paid, have just started new job, so not sure of exact pay date but I think it might be 28th. Hope you all have a great moneysaving month.

Just been to pick up a few essentials and spent £30.53. Hopefully I won't have to go and buy anything else this week, so there may be something for the savings tin!

    Afternoon everyone

Well i have managed to stay in all day -thus not spending a single cent :j

Hubby is on duty (which means he went out at 7am and won't be back until the morning), so i usually go for a wander just to break up the day whilst he is gone... which inevitably ends up with buying "extras" well today i got up and decided i wasn't going to do it, so i have been settled down x stitching most of today... and to help deter me from venturing out ... its raining :p

Justamum... i decided to divide my money up into weekly amounts, and put anything that isn't used by the end of each week into a pot and then every month put it into my newly opened savings account... if i leave it in my purse and end up with adding the next weeks to it i will just get carried away.
Plus... it will stop me buying too much in the 1st week and leaving myself a bit short toward the end of each month... I don't know why it seems easier to make €50 last a week than €200 last 4

I know i have more than enough of everything to last right until monday -so the plan is to not spend any more grocery budget until then AT THE EARLIEST :p
I can't believe how little i have spent so far, although it has been helped by the stuff i bought back from the UK.. although i haven't touched much of that yet.. just 1 gammon and a bag of bread flour :D

Popping on here helps an awful lot... keeps me focussed -so thank you to everyone :D

My friend is going to loan me the book Skinny B***h - apparently that will put me off meat....not sure what it's all about....

OMG that book is really harsh. It's 2 women from LA who can afford to eat completely organic, vegan diets and have lots of celeb followers. They think by swearing at the reader and calling them fat disgusting pigs (seriously), will make them want to lose weight...... Rubbish!

  • Ok finally bit the bullet and did my first shop after joining the challenge with mixed results. I did spend 36.93, but that did include two birthday presents, one for the hubby and one for the father in law, both of which were discounted. I foolishly bought the ingredients for the gel air fresheners that I found somewhere on one of the other forums too.

Also, I have just realised a flaw in my budget - my hubby works away from home during the week and is not known for his penny pinching ways so swears he can't get by on less than £25 a week so I need to remove £100 from my budget...

Well, my little madam is sleeping, so I am going to venture up to the shops and see if I can stick to my list. I would put it off until tomorrow but milk bottle is looking a tad ... empty !

The fact that I have to bring it back whatever I buy in the buggy should have real ''damage control'' powers :rotfl: .

Aaah! It was your idea I [strike]nicked[/strike] read. I couldn't remember whose idea it was. It just seemed genius to me. Makes a lot of sense, and might help me to keep more focused. I'm determined to save a bit this year.
