Yes, such a small space that comes across as dark? I would replace the worn looking grass with light coloured chippings to make that area lighter. If it looks too stark, then add planters on either side of the bench. These could be used to house pots planted with seasonal colour so that they can be replaced as the plants begin to go over.2
