ECO4 contractors guidance

Hello I wonder if there is anyone who could give me advice about the following please?
My daughter is living in a home which does not have any central heating, but a gas fire and an immersion heater. Plug in radiator upstairs. The EPC is G. Her earnings are below £31,000. She is buying the house. We thought she would be eligible for some help with this, but on contacting Nottingham City Council, found that they are not participating in the ECO4 scheme. She has found a company who are coming out to do a survey, but I can’t seem to find any information about them so am concerned. What would be the best way to find a trustworthy contractor please? Thank you for reading.

The local authority don't do any of the work but they are the financial gatekeepers and check the applicants credentials to see if they qualify. LAs can also vary the criteria. Your daughter certainly qualifies on income and EPC but there is usually a requirement to be in receipt of certain benefits. My LA has waived the benefits part, to encourage higher take-up, which is great for me!
The company doing the initial survey may not be the installer but a "broker", for want of a better word, who identify likely eligible properties, make an initial assessment, and liaise with the LA to secure the funding. They will then have a list of contractors they can select from, depending on the nature of the work that is required.
You aren't committed until the work actually starts, so you should be able to do due diligence on the chosen contractors.1 -
TRy a google search of nottingham council and ECO4 to see if they have a list of "approved" energy agents and then see if the one visiting is, in fact, on the list. It will actually be Eco4 Flex if not on benefits. Not sure that councils should have access to the Revenue's tax details as they tend to load up the electoral register with an excess of personal details that they can then sell to nefarious companies that do internet searches but that is just me being paranoid.1
