Do you still use a printer?/HP Envy 120 touchscreen problem

I am using a c. 2013 HP Envy 120 printer with a c. 2013 Toshiba Windows 10 laptop.
I have just replaced the printer cartridges with another set of recycled non-official (bought from Amazon) cartridges. The printer clearly knows this!
The printer seems nonetheless to be working OK-ish but for a couple of things.
The home touch screen goes blank when it is retracted. This problem arose before the recent change of cartridges. I can use it when it is "open" at c. 90° to the printer (eg during printing or when the paper drawer is open) but not otherwise.
The print quality is also poor. I am still experimenting with whether it is better to print from my Android phone or the Windows laptop.
I am wondering whether to restore the printer's factory settings.
What will happen if I do that? Might it simply make matters worse?
I realise that I am probably flogging a dead horse here. I'd just like to get some vfm from the cartridges which I just bought.
Do you still use a printer these days? Should I get used to doing without? I use it very infrequently but it is still useful occasionally, I find.

I think your issue lies with the quality of the replacement non official cartridges personallyEx forum ambassador

Can't help.
I gave up using the printer when the cartridges went up to £50 for 4 and it wouldn't let me just insert black only.
I now use the library. Fantastic printer, perfect results @ 15p a sheet. Annual total about £1.50
It also stops me waffling on in documents
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

That's an excellent idea. I had forgotten about the library option.twopenny said:Can't help.

Practical question - when getting documents printed at the library (or elsewhere) what format would be best suited?
I would guess single page A4 PDF 's? On a memory stick?0 -
At my local library service, you can set up an account and email it in to collect.flaneurs_lobster said:Practical question - when getting documents printed at the library (or elsewhere) what format would be best suited?
