TV/PS3/Cinema packages?

Hi there,
I've recently committed to fitting out my front room with a home cinema style set-up, and perhaps my mouth has made promises my post-christmas cheque book cannot cash...
Ideally, I am looking for a 37"-42" inch TV (I assume I will plump for the Panasonic PX70 or the Samsung equivalent PQ97 or whatever the code was - too big for my room anyway, but stupid promises are promises all the same). However, assuming they cost £700 - this leaves me with approx £300 in the budget for the rest of the gear.
As a result, and lacking a decent DVD player (after a break-in recently, we're left with an outstanding insurance claim and a £20 DVD player from Argos), I thought perhaps of getting a PS3 to cover the DVD side. Oh, and it would cater to my childish desire to spend days on end driving racing cars...
...But I need good quality surround sound too to make the most of a 'home cinema'...
...So are there any places that might do deals if TV/sound/PS3 are all ordered through them? What do you think of my TV choices? I'm sure a part of me is more than willing to go over-budget (about a grand or so) if I feel that I'm getting a good deal out of it.
I had also considered scrapping the PS3 and instead getting a surround sound beginners' system with a DVD player, perhaps saving up for an Onkyo receiver to go with it, but the game playing is a definite attraction!

Ps3 is over-rated IMHO.
Spend £500-600 on your TV (no more! prices are falling! checkout hotukdeals.com or the grabit section of this forum for good deals- they come and go)
40 quid on an original XBOX, get it modified and install Xbox Media center and use component cables to get up to 1080i. While your at it you can install a large hard-drive and 100's of games. If you download a lot of movies and TV, XBMC will stream the files from your computer (no extracting, converting and burning) oh and it plays DVDs too - and upscales. Think game station are selling them for £20 now.
Spend the rest on a good sound system all separates (Decoder+amp/sub/sats) there is a Yamaha complete set about the 200 mark and upgrade it as/if you feel the need. But it will get you 5.1 in the meantime and be pushing 600 odd watts of Hi-Fi sound.
Well thats what I would do. Each to their own.0
