AXA travel insurance - changes

Just received a letter from Co-op Bank where we have travel insurance as part of a packaged account.
Unfortunately my image hosting website is not showing the attempted scanned image, so I can't attach a photo of the text.
It indicates the removal of Section Q "End Supplier Failure" cover effective Wednesday 26th June 2024.
It then expands to explain what this means in more comprehensive detail.
Unless this refers only to the Co-op Bank deal (which doesn't sound logical) then it presumably affects similar insurance policies underwritten by AXA.
Obviously if you have a policy with AXA you would be best advised to check any potential implications.
To quote the letter :
Any claims made before his date that have still not been resolved will still be honoured.
Presumably "this date" means 24/06/2024 rather than that of the letter which is 17th May 2024.

Axa sells wholesale directly and via middlemen who have underwriting authority and so it certainly won't be a universal change to every policy ultimately backed by Axa.

Yes, it will be claimed before the effective date stated in the letter not the date of the letter itself.
  • I got the same letter, it's quite a significant part of travel insurance to remove I thought!

so from this letter which i also received.....basically from the end of June the deal which consists of phone insurance, car breakdown and worldwide travel insurance is now basically this but with out the travel insurance yea? Lucky i go on the 8th June for 9 nights so will just fall into being covered. This is now going to make me look elsewhere to other bank options who offer these services I guess....

Not at all, just failure of supplier is no longer covered by the insurance. If you are too sick to travel, lose your luggage whilst on the trip etc those are still all covered.

Not actually seen the letter so can only go by what the OP states which is that End Supplier Failure has been dropped.

This cover would, generally and assuming you didnt buy a package holiday, enable you to cancel the whole holiday if the airline or hotel company went bust. Without the cover you could do a Chargeback for the money to that particular supplier and then be left to rebook with another supplier for that component but naturally it may be more expensive at that point. If you bought a package holiday then it becomes the tour operators problem and the insurance isn't necessary.

The letter lists the detail of areas where End Supplier Failure will no longer be covered effective 26th June 2024.
It is not termination of other travel insurance such as medical cover.
Inclusive package holiday deals such as offered by TUI and Jet2 for example are still covered.
There is a tel.no.for account holders to make enquiries on any aspects which may affect their situation.
