Hack attempts

Bit of confusion about what the failed hack attempts are trying to log into - it's the Microsoft account which can in many cases also identify an email (Outlook or Hotmail) account - but not in this case.PHK said:
Your first post says it is a Microsoft Hotmail account?MouldyOldDough said:Mark_d said:Use passwordless login. Then you won't have people trying to crack your password
But my email account is NOT with MS
Just checked my account - busy boy that hacker, suspect anyone with a Microsoft account that's been around for a while will see the same activity.

Have you done this for your Microsoft account? Actually removed the password?Mark_d said:Use passwordless login. Then you won't have people trying to crack your password
Brave, I've got Windows Hello, Outlook for Android and MS Authenticator as login methods but I ain't getting rid of the (strong) password just yet - too bothered by what else I might break.0 -
Your not the OP though. The OP clearly says an attempt to get into Hotmail. Then later on that its not a Microsoft accountflaneurs_lobster said:

I meant my main email account is not MS but then I realised what I had said!!
If I was half as smart as I think I am - I'd be twice as smart as I REALLY am.0 -
My MS account shows something similar. My router log is worse, hundreds of random attempts to log in.Hackers will have access to millions of e-mail addresses and computers generating random IP addresses and trying to connect, as mentioned above - just like walking down the street trying door handles, eventually they will find an unlocked one. Just make sure your door is locked and you will be fine.MrsM's MS account shows no hack attempts but her e-mail is hardly used for anything.0
