Extra cost to installation of smart meter. who pays
Seeking advice. The installation of my gas and electric smart meters being held up. Electric meter back board is rotten and cannot take the weight of a smart meter. I have been advised by email by edf I have to pay for a new electric back board. The meter is attached to the rotten backboard. Do I have to arrange and pay for this. Many thanks for any help.

Worth having a read of this . It sounds like it could be done free of charge if the main supply fuse is also attached to the same back board :

The back board doesn't belong to you - so you shouldn't have to pay for it.
It's usually the responsibility of the local Distribution Network Operator. Do you know who yours is?
If you don't, search here: https://www.powercut105.com/en/0 -
Thank you both for your most helpful replies. All sorted now with National Grid coming to replace backing board free of charge. I was wrongly advised by EDF. And National Grid really helpful once I explained everything to them.6

Good result. Just a shame that EDF couldn't provide you with better guidance.0

EDF should have arranged and booked the job on your behalf with National Grid.0
