Roughly how much would it take to replace these windows in white pvc? - excluding porch window - in Merseyside area?

The bays are going to count as four windows each, and you'll want support posts between each section. Maybe £6-7K ?Judging by the style of the house, I'd hazard a guess that it is a prewar build - You may need lintels inserted above each window to support the outer leaf. That will bump up the cost if you do.Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

I don't know if there is already lintels above the bay windows, if they are not already there is there a requirement to have them on a new install, should the installer suggest/insistt they be added?
I know the extension window has a thin metal lintel, but looking a bit rusty now0 -
The "requirement" is that the wall might fall down if they're not there.Numb_fingers said:I don't know if there is already lintels above the bay windows, if they are not already there is there a requirement to have them on a new install, should the installer suggest/insistt they be added?

The frames of the lower bay windows could be supporting the upper bay. Do you know what's behind the render? My parents had problems with UPVC replacements of their original bay windows. The "wall" between upper and lower windows was just tiles hung on a wood frame, plasterboarded inside.Numb_fingers said:I don't know if there is already lintels above the bay windows, if they are not already there is there a requirement to have them on a new install, should the installer suggest/insistt they be added?

That thin metal lintel is more substantial than you think, the greater part of it is concealed within the cavity between the outer and inner walls.1 -

They didn't use lintels on that type of bay back then. The timber windows supported the weight from above, which was normally a timber frame, or single skin of brickwork. Nowadays there's lintels like Catnic specially designed to support cavity walls over a bay.Numb_fingers said:I don't know if there is already lintels above the bay windows, if they are not already there is there a requirement to have them on a new install, should the installer suggest/insistt they be added?

When a timber bay is replaced with a plastic one the fitters should use bay jacks to support above.
