Sent incorrect item. Rights after 30 days?

Hello,
I purchased some garden furniture and a cover for said furniture at the end of March to avoid paying extra when the good weather hit. I have built said furniture today. I have now opened the cover but it doesn't fit. I have looked at the paperwork in the packaging it came in and the measurements are different to the cover that I had ordered online and had delivered.
I ordered this cover as the Q&A section for the furniture said that it fits.
I have gone on the Argos chat and they have said that because it's more that 30 days I can't have a refund under their "changed your mind" policy.
This isn't a change I've had the wrong item delivered to me..
The rather unhelpful chat person suggested I take it up with a store manager and then quicky left the chat.
Can I check what my rights are here before I go out of my way to get to an Argos store?
Am I right in thinking that because the item is the incorrect item, I am entitled to the actual item if I return this one? Or a refund if said item can't be provided?
Thanks for the help!

Hello OP
The 30 days doesn’t mean anything*, they should replace with the correct item and if they can’t then they’ll need to refund.
Argos aren’t famed for great customer service, if you purchased in store then popping back and speaking to someone in person will hopefully result in common sense
If it doesn’t pop back for more advice.*The only difference 30 days makes to yourself is after 30 days you can’t insist upon a refund without giving them the chance to replace (or repair but that’s not applicable in this instance)In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces2 -
Thank you for your help! I will be back to let you know the outcome. 🙂0

Update: I popped into my local Sainsbury's/Argos and have had the item replaced with the correct one. Shame that the person on the online chat was not more privy to consumer rights. Thanks for backing up my guy feeling that I was entitled to refund/replacement even after 30 days. 👍🏻3

I've had similar with M&S.Sulmur said:Update: I popped into my local Sainsbury's/Argos and have had the item replaced with the correct one. M&S online customer service are rubbish. They positively told me that they couldn't help with an issue I had. I went instore and they sorted it all out no questions asked. (And ditto Boots).
It's always worth going instore if you can.0
