Virus warnings from AV program I don't have.

I've started to get Popup messages, saying my computer is infected by various viruses.

Thing is the alerts say they're from McAfee, but I don't have McAfee installed. I use AVG.

I've run a scan and it's coming back clean.

Any idea how I can get rid of these fake alerts?

I blame microsoft.  I get them from time to time & they are a pain in the proverbial.

I'm not getting them from time to time.

I'm getting them all the time.

From the browser, email or just on the desktop? Hard to diagnose with so little information.

Some malware can now hide from AV scans unless you boot the PC into the scanner (which Windows Defender can do)

Run a scan with the free version of Malwarebytes not an AV app.

It's popups in the bottom right corner.

They're also in the "manage notifications" box, on the right hand side of the taskbar.

This sounds like the OP has turned on notifications from a website they've visited.

    I don't recall doing that.

How do I find out, and how do I disable the notifications?
