Gas Meter stopped sending readings
Anyone else having issues with their Smart meter for gas (it's an SMETS1 meter fitted by British Gas originally but I am now with Octopus).
Since 10th May, the gas meter has not provided any readings to Octopus - I raised it with them and they said they would "nudge" the meter but nothing happened since.
This happened a few times when I was with British Gas as well - the gas meter would not give any readings to the cloud sometimes for weeks at a time, then mysteriously start up again.
(The electric meter is working find and the gas meter is showing readings on the IHD and the meter itself).

Somewhere between 1 person and 4 million people have that (or similar) issue based on the latest discussions.
You still have readings on the meter, so it isn't considered a problem.0 -
It’s not as big an issue as it would be if it was the electric meter, but it’s annoying because it means I have to send a manual reading to Octopus each month, and also because I’m on Octopus Tracker for gas, it means they will spread my usage over the month according to their formula rather than actuals.BarelySentientAI said:Somewhere between 1 person and 4 million people have that (or similar) issue based on the latest discussions.

They were only required to install these meters not to ensure that they work. So basically their general message is tough, your problem.

I work in IT and I’m just wondering if you’ve tried turning it off and on again 😀
seriously my display unit was showing an errror.
i pulled the cable out the back of the display unit and put it back in again and it was fine.0 -
from the sound of it it's not the In House Display unit that has the issue though - it's the communications hub not sending the readings from the gas meter to the supplier.lisyloo said:I work in IT and I’m just wondering if you’ve tried turning it off and on again 😀

No doubt it's annoying for you.Pat38493 said:

Just stating the official position. They don't consider it a problem because the meter is still reading, and the targets are only for replacing non-smart with smart meters, not for fixing smart meters that aren't working to 100%.0 -
Yes - they have tried that with me before but the IHD is working fine and resetting the IHD will have zero impact on whether the data is getting to the networkp00hsticks said:

I've had this problem a couple of times, when data would stop flowing. I found contacting them on Twitter got things fixed (though my meter is SMETS2 not SMETS1).0

Yes - but what I found last time is that you have to contact them several times on Twitter pointing out each time what they said they had already tried, before they realise that there is a bigger issue than just the timing of the data pull.MeteredOut said:I've had this problem a couple of times, when data would stop flowing. MeteredOut is well aware of how long and slow these sort of issues can be:Pat38493 said:
