now you've done it - the whole sketch is wonderful but I had forgotten about the independent Very Silly Party candidate https://youtu.be/dVI5ZOT5QEM?si=Xsf9Ex-S6LQoHgG1&t=221

I can't imagine it will be too much of an issue given that it is simply a spelling difference, so long as you explain as you plan to. When I applied for Probate for my late husband, I was named in his Will with my maiden name (our Wills were made in contemplation of marriage) and I changed my name when we were married. It may have helped that I am named as his spouse (with my married name) on his death certificate, but I had no problems with my Probate application. I selected the relevant box in the application and explained the name change was due to marriage. All I needed to submit was the Will and death certificate. I assume that the Probate office use other government records to cross check ID and were able to use those methods to verify our marriage, if indeed they did any such checks at all.

Of note, one of my banks erroneously has my name double barrelled and has done since I took my marriage certificate into one of their branches to change my name following our marriage. None of my ID is in a double barrelled name. I don't use that account very often and never managed to get the bank to correct the name. I used that account for much of the administration of the estate so as not to confuse the estate funds with personal funds.

Flugelhorn may also have recalled a “standing at the back looking silly” candidate appearing in an episode of Blackadder - the scene being a by-election in a rotten borough, with coverage by Vincent Hanna.  This is from the third series, the episode Dish and Dishonesty.
