Brambles?
I think you need something like SBK brushwood killer.
Brambles are very very tough, at the optimal season with good weather the shoots can grow 3 inches per day!Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

I've killed some brambles with weedkiller, some by physically removing the roots and some by covering them and depriving of light.
Take your pick. It sounds like weedkiller should work for you1 -
"AMMONIUM SULPHAMATE IS USED:
· as a herbicide (outside the EU)
o Note: Ammonium sulphamate was considered to be particularly useful in controlling toughwoody weeds, tree stumps and brambles before this application became unlicensed within the European Union in 2008. Its availability and use as a compost accelerator is unaffected by the EU's pesticide legislation."

It can be bought as a compost accelerator on ebay - but don't spill it on brambles or they'll be destroyed!

Thank you very much for that, if the effect wears off after a while, does that mean they would grow back?I don't use my back yard as I can't easily get to it. The roots are fetching the bricks up.0
