Pin Sentry makes £1000 daily internet banking limit a nonsense

We've asked on various occasions for Barclays to increase our daily internet banking maximum transaction limit above £1000 and they've always refused on the grounds that this was a "security" measure.
Now they've introduced the Pin Sentry system for all internet banking transactions, it seems to me that the security argument no longer applies. Has anybody applied for a higher daily transaction limit post Pin Sentry introduction? And have they been successful?

i believe that with Pin sentry the limit has been raised to £5,000 per day0

Is this a new limit? I have certainly transferred a lot more than that in the past. I think once I transferred £15,000 for a car out of my savings account to my main account?
Infact I transfer £2500 monthly from my current account into my billing account
Or does this not include internal transfers?0 -
The daily external transfer limit is £10K with HSBC and LlyodsTSB, so £5K is still pathetic! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

I have found myself without the means to pay for shopping on 2 occasions since having Pin sentry forced on me. Normally my bank cards live in my handbag but I need my debit card for pin sentry and have gone out leaving the card on the computer, thus was unable to pay for shopping. Wonder if Barclays issue a card just for this infernal machine, I will have to venture into a branch and ask.
However I fear that it will have to be an account with another bank.0 -
krisskross - you're not the only one to be caught like this, leaving your debit card by your pin sentry machine on the computer. The only way of avoiding this problem seems to be to take your debit card out of your wallet and leave your wallet in your handbag along with your other cards before going off to the computer. Then at least if that card gets left behind, you can pay with a credit card.0

This insane Pinsentry device is doing my head in. I keep doing the same. I think it decreases security rather than increase it. It is a hazard and should be banned.0

I asked a few months ago for my £1000 daily BACS payment limit to be increased since I got my pin sentry device.
They said they could not do this because their systems had not been developed to allow individual limits.
If they are to raise the limit, it would be done for all users.
They said to me, until EVERYONE is on pin sentry, they would not consider doing so.
They were unable to indicate any time scales, and stuck to their story of 'being unable to do anything', when I asked them to put me through to the department that could deal with my account closure.
I didn't close it (was a bluff)... but it seems threatening them with that makes no difference. I tend not to use the account anymore (besides for the interest free overdraft I have with them).

It would be really great if Barclays would come to their senses and terminate this useless system.
