Have you applied to any network for the PIP social broadband tariff? What’s your experience? Were you accepted and what proof did you supply to support your application?

When I supported someone to request a social tariff, we were asked for National Insurance number and (BT I think) were able to check entitlement using that. I seem to remember it was quite quick and easy, sorted in one phone call. Not sure if we were just lucky . It was several years ago and needed to be reviewed every year.1

Thank you.
BT don’t offer a Pip tariff, you have to be on other benefits to qualify with them.0 -
Not many providers will support PIP and/or DLA - as that benefit isn't means tested. https://www.ofcom.org.uk/phones-telecoms-and-internet/advice-for-consumers/costs-and-billing/social-tariffs
According to The Sun (in an article from Jan 23) only Vodafone, KCOM (Hull area) and Hyperoptic offer it for PIP and DLA...
Only Vodafone will be near-universally available, I'd suggest.

Agree with Rodders.... I suspect anyone with experience of using PIP to qualify any time recently will have done so with Vodafone as most providers only accept income related benefits. I have a trouble free time with BT's social tariff but using U/C as the qualifying benefit."Do not attribute to conspiracy what can adequately be explained by incompetence" - rogerblack1

Thank you Rodders53.
I’ve requested a call from Vodafone but read they rarely contact people to provide the service. Someone on another forum is still waiting and they asked to join months ago.0 -
You could try joining the Voda Community and nudging the team that way?

Or reaching out to Voda on their soshull meedya sites (apparently).

TalkTalk do not offer a social tariff.
I was moved to them from shell. Received an email (with a wrong contact number for someone who was getting lots of calls) from them to say that because they did NOToffer social Tariffs I could cancel at no cost.0 -
I think all these so-called social tariffs have worse deals than when they started with price hikes and reduced access (ie a lot of hoop jumping and head scratching).I think when BT started their deal was brilliant and now it's fairly hopeless. They must have been caught out by the demand. There is still a saving for some households who aren't heavy users, however.0
