C1 Confirmation Application via Post - Help

Hi, I have completed the C1 form to apply for confirmation and I’m about to send it to the Sheriff Court by post. However, I’m unsure what else I need to send along with the application form other than the docquetted will. 

For example, do I need to send the death certificate and any proof of id? 

Also, does the will need to be the original will or can it be a certified will?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks for your quick response and all the other advice you have given on this subject within this forum. Your advise has got me to a position where I am fairly confident that I have completed the C1 application form correctly; without your guidance I would have been completely lost.

I have gone through the SCTS webpage that you suggested but I am still a little unclear on a few details around what I need to send with the application. From reading the SCTS guidance it is clear that I need to send the following: 

• The original Will 
• The death certificate (not a copy)

What isn’t so clear to me is the proof of id that I need to send with the application. Do I need to send my Passport and or Photocard Drivers Licence? I would be a bit reluctant sending either of those in the post. Can I send photocopies of them or can I just send 3 utility bills from separate companies for example?

The guidance states “If you are not attending the court personally, but rather submitting the application by post, then three pieces of documentary evidence are required”. What I’m trying to gather is what do these three pieces of evidence need to be in order to be accepted.

One further question is that the guidance states that the fee needs to be included – How is this achieved?

I also would be reluctant to post off my passport and photo licence.

I think you only need any three items from the list, and that photocopies and web-accessed printouts are not acceptable.

If you include your telephone contact number, the normal process for payment is that once the application is approved, you receive a phone call asking for payment by card.
