wii blueness..problem?

Options
Wondered if anyone else has had this problem. I don't recall it happening before the last Wii update I got from Nintendo, but it is annoying.

Basically it runs fine, plays fine, great console.
After you switch it into standby (there's no physical off switch), it goes off as normal. Sometimes, after a couple of hours - the neon on the front goes blue like it does when it's reading a disc, then flashes. It might stop for a minute or so, but then it'll start blue/flashing again.

It's really very bright and as my console is opposite my bed, I've had to unplug it from the mains overnight or it wakes me up.

Anyone else had this, or know of it as an issue?

Edit: Scrap that. I think I've just found my own answer. I'm putting it in standby amber instead of standby red. Has a couple of different standby modes it seems.

You can also change the brightness in the console settings. The glowing indicates the Wii has got an update or new message.
  • i have the same problem i did the update on my wii, and i woke in the middle of the nigh at it was flashing bright blue the disk bit so now i have to turn my wii off at night as it wakes me up
  • fletcher - it's because of multiple standby modes.

When you turn it off using the remote, the power button on the Wii goes to an amber light.

If you press and hold the power button on the Wii itself, it goes red. It doesn't seem to connect to the net overnight, receive anything, or flash on and off on its own when it's in that red standby mode.
You can still wake it using the wiimote when it's in that state.

To keep the eco mentalists happy, they should have put a totally-off switch on it.
  • ok thaks it was like a disco in my room that night with all the flashing lights

It's in the manual, if the power light is orange it is in standby but still connected to the Wiiconnect 24 so it will receive updates etc. the blue flashing glow indicates this is happening. Switch it off so the red light is on the console and it is disconnected from the net.
It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die

  • Ah yes. Who reads the manual tho? I know I didn't.
