Hi all,
Not sure if this post is in the correct place so please move it if it's in the wrong section.
Unfortunately my mums pension details has been part of the capita cyber attack that happened a year or 2 ago and whilst she has been given free access to the premium Experian service I was wondering if there could be a possible compensation claim?
I did do a quick search online and there seems to be alot of possible no win no fee companies available but not sure what to do for the best as i have heard of people using these companies, it back fires and they are left with hefty bills so wouldn't want the same for my mum.
Any help or advice either way would be appreciated
Kind regards Mark

What financial loss did she suffer?

The bottom feeders of the legal world and, in almost all cases best avoided.Giraffe76 said:

As has been asked already, what loss did she suffer as a result of the the breech?0 -
There are already group litigations supposedly happening here. I have a hard time believing they will have any success. It's a bad thing that has happened but if your mum has suffered no actual loss then there's really no claim to be made.0

Got to be worth a few hundred sovs in compo?0 -
Very hard sell in UK courts. The litigation firms will be hoping Capita opts to settle for a figure big enough to pay their fees.flaneurs_lobster said:

Irrelevant. For data protection issues the compensation is generally based on the severity of the issue, i.e. the kind and volume of data lost, as well as the distress it caused. Any financial loss is on top of that.Linton said:

Start by writing to them and offer £750 as full and final settlement, based on examples of pay-outs given by the ICO.0 -
ICO don't give pay outs to punters. They fine companies and the money goes into government coffers. It's not useful to conflate the two.ThorOdinson said:

"The ICO cannot award compensation, even when we give our opinion that an organisation has broken data protection law."1 -
