MANDATORY MIGRATION FROM T/C TO UC

Hi all,
Has anyone had any experience of being in receipt of working and child tax credits and then having to move to UC? I was at the end of the deadline in March so had to move over and now for 2 months I have found myself £480 less a month down! Which is leaving me in an absolute hole. Im a single mum to 1 daughter and work full time in NHS. Has anyone else found this? I just cannot believe they think its ok to leave people on this cliff edge. Following a very unhelpful discussion with UC I don't think there is anything I can do. I actually think I will be better off by working less! Which I don't want to do as I want to progress my career. Feeling very depressed and deflated

Thousands of people are currently being moved to Uc or have been moved. they are really ramping up the migration process.
You will not be better off by working less. UC is designed to make people better off working.
I would check all your elements are correct. Do you have standard single element, a child element , rent element if you pay rent and childcare element if you pay childcare ? are they all there on your statement?
If you have any worried about getting the correct amount you could use one of the calculators or speak to Citizens advice. Unfortunately some people are worse off on UC and some better off.0 -
I'm undergoing a mandatory migration too, but have not been notified of the new monthly amount yet. There's something called Transitional Protection, which seems to imply that some people won't get less than they were on under Tax Credits, for 12 months, when having a forced migration - if I've understood it correctly...? The Low Income Tax Reform Group (litrg) has more information about it. There may be reasons why the Protection doesn't apply for some.
As rubyroobs suggests, maybe ask Citizens Advice. They took the time to go through all my figures, to give me an indication of what I might get under UC.

You wont be told of the amount paid until 5/7days prior to payment. Your assessment period will start the day you apply and end a month later. At that point you will be advised of the payment and this will be 5-7 days later (depending on the day)bygracealone said:I'm undergoing a mandatory migration too, but have not been notified of the new monthly amount yet. For instance apply today and your assessment period will be 20 May - 19 June with your payment being around 25 June. You can log on and see your statement at the end of your assessment period.
Transition protection applies to different claims differently. If you have more than £16K capital this will be ignored for a year.
Depending on your personal circumstances, once you have your statement you will be able to see what is being paid and if a TP has been applied, if it hasn’t you can ask for it to be recalculated.Proud to have dealt with our debtsStarting debt 2005 £65.7K.

That only applies to those with capital of more than £16,000 when migrating from Tax credits. For others entitled to TP how long it's in place for depends on how much TP they receive as it erodes when other elements increase or you become entitled to other elements.bygracealone said:I'm undergoing a mandatory migration too, but have not been notified of the new monthly amount yet.
