Home Insurance Renewal Declined

I am currently insured with LV for my home insurance but have received a letter saying they are no longer able to insure my property (I have not made any claims!).  I asked why and they refused to say as the change was made by their underwriters.  They said it is nothing to do with me or my property!!  I then went to look at other sites and one question you get asked is have I ever been refused insurance renewal.  This is surely going to put me in a difficult position if I now say yes.  Has anyone had the same problem?

I don’t think you need to say yes.

Yes would be if you applied and they said no based on your specific information and property or individual risk.
This is about them changing their business model, so not something that would need to be declared. In my layperson‘s opinion anyway. I had similar for my car insurance and was told when I asked that I didn’t need to declare it.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

If that were the case anyone who as ever gone onto confused.com or equivalent would have to declare hundreds of declines. Look at the bottom of the list, there are always a dozen or more companies down there. Saga will decline me every time as I'm not old enough for them.

Under the traditional question you dont need to declare someone declining to quote. A minority ask a slightly different question which includes if you have ever had an insurer not offer renewal terms... it's only then that you'd need to answer yes.

It is the correct response.  Not sure why you find it incredulous.

Are you sure they say that?    The vast majority do not.  I suspect you are reading more into the question than is being asked.
