Faulty product sold through Amazon

I purchased some 'second skin' on Amazon for a tattoo. I've used it before and never had any issues, anyway, this product has ended up burning my skin.
I obviously removed it and contacted Amazon who have given me a refund and they told me that they have removed the product from their website already and are doing an investigation. This to me says that other people have complained about the same issue?
Because of what it has done to my skin, I'm obviously mortified and it is upsetting me. I put this to Amazon who pushed it back and have said that I need to contact the seller, so I have done.
Where do I stand? As surely Amazon should conduct thorough checks of products being sold on their site? And I also don't know where I stand in terms of any kind of compensation from the actual company that sold it?
Thank you for reading and any advice is appreciated!

You say you have contacted the seller. What did they say?
What did the hospital say about the burn, what treatment did they give you and what did they say about any long term scarring, etc.?
In terms of consumer rights Amazon have given you a full refund which is your full entitlement under UK consumer legislation.
Under different laws you might be entitled to damages because of the injury caused by the product. That claim in negligence would be pursued against the manufacturer or importer.
You say Amazon should conduct thorough checks of all products on their site? Think about that. Retail would collapse if every corner shop had to analyse every pack of mints or Mars bar before selling it. There is a chain of due diligence which allows retailers to rely on statements made by importers and manufacturers. Many people think we have more than enough of that already.2 -
Was the product sold by Amazon or was it a marketplace seller?Life in the slow lane0
