Car insurance mistake led to void contract

Hi, I have bought car insurance last september through comparison website. This time I dicided to put my partner on it too. She had provisional driving licence at the time. All was well untill last week when she has finally got her full UK licence and I rang my insurer say that she has new document. To my surprise I was told that I have stated previously that she had full UK licence not provisional and my insurance is being void. Now, I have no idea how it happened as I have entered details from the document and thought all documents are being checked before you get insurance cover. Went back on comparison site and sure enough it said full UK instead provisonal. I could not belive my eyes as I am not a person trying to lie to anyone. I am gutted. Don't know what to do now as I am being criminal fraudster now. The only thing on my mind is that I could've possibly navigate website i.e scrolled page or something that has changed option without me noticing. Did anyone had similar experience? Any suggestions on how to deal with it now?

Ultimately its always possible to accidentally tap the arrow keys whilst a field is selected and it changes the values etc but this is why companies give you a static summary of your answers to confirm they are all correct before you go on to buy, the average person tends to spend 1-2 seconds on that page (including load time) so clearly dont bother checking it but click the "I agree" to confirm they have read and agreed that all is correct.

How to deal with it really is throw yourself on their mercy, that this is a matter of being careless rather than intentionally or recklessly providing wrong information but having clicked to say it was correct, having then not checked the schedule after buying etc it does feel very close to being reckless.

In the meantime you'll clearly need to arrange replacement insurance and remember to declared "yes" to having had insurance cancelled for non-disclosure.

Responsibility for ensuring details provided are correct is entirely that of the person taking out insurance of any kind.  Insurance companies don't have the time or staff to check every detail supplied.  If they did have that level of staffing, insurance costs would probably be prohibitive.
