I've moved over from WTC & CTC under managed migration.  I make private pension contributions as well as workplace pensions contributions.

I've stumbled across two problems that I'm worried about.

Firstly,

I requested an upload function as others here have suggested so I can upload my pension contributions.  I have now got the upload function but my understanding of the message my work coach has written is that my private pension contributions do not count.

I then called the helpline asking how to escalate this as I know that they do count, the lady I spoke with though also says that they don't and that the person to escalate it to is my work coach, which doesn't seem entirely logical as that isn't an escalation.

Can anyone advise how I can get this decision reviewed please?

Secondly,

I called my private pension company to ask for a value statement so that I could upload it as evidence.  They did this, but it's password protected.  Even saving it, emailing it to myself etc does nothing to remove the password requirement.  I uploaded it stating  my password in my journal, ordinarily I wouldn't but there's nothing private or sensitive here.  I'm not sure that UC will be ok with this though.  I also  additionally scanned printed pages 1-4 and uploaded those, there are 16 pages in total but the rest is FAQ.  I'm worried that they'll say it's not good enough but I did call the pension company asking how to remove the password requirement and the person I spoke to told me it isn't possible.  I have messaged for work coach to call me but I'm really worried that the password protection will prevent me from giving any evidence which is acceptable and it doesn't help that the work coach who I think would call thinks it doesn't count anyway.

Please can anyone advise as I'm getting worried.

The way to deal with this is to send a journal message under payment category asking for separate private pension contribution to be taken into account when UC statements are calculated.  Wait for the UC statement to be issued without the private pension being considered and then raise mandatory reconsideration where you can then provide the pension information.  You may have to do this for every UC statement issued..

And take a copy of the private pension payment you have made to the Job Centre and ask them to add to the mandatory reconsideration request.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.
  • @huckster thank you so much for your help (again).  It's very much appreciated.  I'm happy to go through the monthly faff of upload + chase if needed.
