To be fair to someone not so experienced in these things they do not necessarily make things easy to find.  Look for the words privacy or data protection usually at very top or bottom of front page of their website. They must include contact details for DPO in those documents somewhere.

  • Hi Keith,

I had looked through the newbies page earlier, but found it very text heavy and was unsure of the correct steps. For example, I had assumed I needed to send the email which the other user pointed out I do not need to do. Plus there are parts which say "DO THIS UNLESS ITS FROM DCBL" etc.

I appreciate you must read texts like this constantly, and I can understand that it gets tiresome constantly saying "this is all on the newbies page". Maybe you are very experienced and not nervous about any of these things. I, on the other hand, am terrified of Bailiffs coming. I have been in a situation before where missing a payment for a 2 pound crossing on the Runcorn bridge turned into a bill of 380 and a county court judgement without my knowledge. I have previously paid 180 for a parking eye fee at a hotel. None of my appeals had ever been successful, and I am not confident when it comes to battling these people. Please understand, this is my first time doing any of this, and I am, perhaps wrongly, seeking guidance and someone to confirm for me each step I am doing is the right one. I mean no harm and am grateful for the "hand holding".
  • Thank you, Granny Kate. I appreciate your patience and kindness.

No bailiffs will call and I think you know now, the industry operates what MPs called 'an outrageous scam' and you shouldn't have paid that ParkingEye one.

Have a fresh read of the NEWBIES thread in the morning.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Have a fresh read of the NEWBIES thread in the morning.  I don't recall ever typing 'DO THIS UNLESS ITS FROM DCBL'?
There are seven instances of "unless" in the NEWBIE sticky and not one of them is followed by "it's from DCBL".

If you get a LBCCC direct from ParkingEye (not from DCBLegal on their behalf)

Sorry, i misused the word unless. Like I have said previously, I was overwhelmed and panicked upon receiving I found the newbie thread very text heavy, especially in the anxious state i was in, and perhaps i misspoke when trying to explain my issues with it.

And i feel like I had to explain, because of people like you and Keith, who offer nothing of substance to help in this situation, and instead make snarky remarks of "this is said 7 ttimes..." do you understand these forums were set up to help people... answer me honestly, in what way do you think your comment helps me? Because I tell you this, it has dont nothing but put me off from using the site, and I am sure that was not the intention of the people who set up the site.

This site was set up to help people like me, not to give people like you and keith the opportunity to post passive aggressive nonsense. Sadly, I see you comment a lot. I only hope your other comments are more helpful oppose to the sneering nature of the comment you made in my thread.

Congratulations, you have convinced me to just pay the 170 rather than have to deal with people like you and Keith. I hope that makes you feel good about yourself. I also hope when you and people in your family run into a situation where they need help and advice, they are met with people with your exact unhelpful attitude.

    Good day.
  • I didnt mean my comment as an attack on the newbies thread. I am sure there is so much helpful information in there, in fact, the first person who replied to me in the thread made me feel really reassured about that fact. I was just panicked and in a state of anxiety, as such, i found it difficult to parse the information correctly. However, I do not mean that as an attack on your and is more a reflection of my cognitive abilities in the stressful moment.

Sadly, Keith and Le Kirk have completely dissuaded me from writing on this site any longer. They really take away from the friendly, helpful nature of the site, and make people like me feel stupid and silly. I am sure you can agree that is not a good look.
  • "passive-aggressive behaviour is unacceptable"

this is a comment from the guy who started the Money Saving Expert website. I think a couple of the commenters here would do well to remember that. I cannot find a way to delete my account, but mods, if you see this, please delete my account and Erase all my information. Thank you.
  • Afternoon all, I’m hoping someone can help please.

I received a claim for DCBL Ltd, then DCBL Legal which I responded to by letter using the helpful template on here within the time period required.

I have today received in the same post run a reply from DCBL Ltd (not Legal) saying they have referred my case for legal action with their sister company DCBL Legal. At the same time I’ve received a letter from the court giving my 14 days to respond to a claim.

Can you please give any advice on what course of action to follow next? DCBL have failed to respond to the letter I sent to them before proceeding to court.  My letter to DCBL (Ltd and Legal both have the exact same address and I referenced the case using the reference number on the DCBL Legal letter).

thanks again for maintaining this really helpful forum and preventing these crooks from blackmailing individuals.
