Carers Allowance And Employment

Hello,

Looking for advice. My carers allowance has been stopped due to my employment. They have sent out a form in the post, which i prefer to fill out but they insisted i gave information over the phone? I think the form got lost in the post havent received it so i may well end up doing it over the phone. Does anyone have an example? what questions do they ask? do you need to submit payslips, bank statements? employers contact number?

Thanks.

All they ask for is the name and address of your employer and if you're paid weekly or monthly. They may ask how many hours you work, but that's it. Your earnings are reported automatically, so you don't have to report your earnings, but if you go over the weekly or monthly pay cap, you must phone them and tell them this.

How are your earning reported automatically? Do they constantly contact HMRC?

Assuming your employer is filing Real Time Information reports then yes.

There are very few employers who don't need to file this information.

Do they take RTI for carers allowance eligibility? I thought it was a UC specific thing.
I also recall recent media reports around massive overpayment of carers allowance when the claimant didn't notify DWP of their earnings under the assumption they had the information already.

you are correct, RTi is collected but only used for UC entitlement automatically, if you claim Carers Allowance you have to notify them yourself that you are no longer entitled.
