Problems copying file from camcorder dvd to computer

Hi,

Hope you all had a happy Christmas.

I am trying to copy 8 "chapters" from a dvd I recently finalised from my canon dvd camcorder on to my laptop's hard drive.

7 of them copied across successfully but the first one on the dvd generates the following error:

"cannot read from the source file or disc"

I can play all the chapters through Media player with no problems...

Any ideas?

Sounds like the Disc is damaged or else the DVD player on your PC is not up to the job. Try another computer, it may playback fine on the camera as it will just skip or give a blip during the corrupted part of the video, however when you try and copy it, it need to copy every single bit, and if there are missing bits, it will throw up the error you just mentioned.

You have tried the obvious cleaning the disc?

There is software out there that will allow you to copy a corrupt file from a DVD, google is your friend.
