New home policy - declare rejected claim?

Can't word my question correctly for SEO so hopefully someone here can tell me: we attempted to claim on our home insurance for a burst mains water pipe at the beginning of 2024 but as it was wear and tear, the claim was rejected. Our insurance is now up for renewal and we're getting quotes - does the act of attempting a claim count, or is it only claims which have been accepted which count, when declaring on new policies?

You have to declare all claims irrespective if they were settled, denied, withdrawn, repudiated, cancelled or any other status someone can think of.
