Hi, Hoping for some help if it's possible on yahoo.co.uk!
I am already signed in on my laptop, tablet and phone. Have been for over a year since last changed password. On my laptop, I can get into my security page and click onto 'create new password' It then shows a new box with what I take is current password - which is the same as noted down last time it was changed a year ago.
However, when I try signing in (to check password works) the only other way I know how without signing out on any of my devices, is using incognito mode, this current password isn't working?
All I want to confirm is my current password and find way of confirming this? Can anyone tell me how I can achieve this, please?

Hi, thanks for reading. Am using Mozilla Firefox on laptop & then tried checking password using 'new private window' one that has mask like the lone ranger! Can I ask why this might matter? But hope it helps, eitherway!

Chrome has a section with passwords stored & you can view what they are.Life in the slow lane1

Not sure if the below helps:How to view saved passwords on Firefox
Firefox offers two paths to find where your passwords are stored. The first is straightforward:
Open Firefox and click the hamburger menu at the top right corner.
Select “Passwords.”
You’ll see the list of your saved credentials.
You can also find your passwords in the Firefox settings:
Click the hamburger menu at the top right corner.
Select “Settings” and click on “Privacy & security.”
Find the “Logins and passwords” section and click “Saved logins.”
You will see the list of your saved credentials.

OK. Found the password file simply enough, and...OMG it works. Password from last year that is stored, completely different to the 1 we have noted...and gained access to my yahoo email page using the 'new private window' (or incognito as prefer to call it). At least one less job to deal with, and less stressed now. Many thanks for all your help and to a quick success!0

I've had a look at the Yahoo change password page on my laptop, looks like the box for the new password is being populated by autofill (by Bitwarden in my case, probably by your browser in yours).
I'd forget about trying to verify your current password. Yahoo will let you change your password without verifying the current one, get it changed (and store it somewhere secure like a password manager, browser storage of passwords can give problems cross-platform and cross-browser).
EDIT: You've got it sorted, I'd still encourage the use of a password manager.0 -
You learn something new every day. I didn't realise passwords were stored in that way and so easily accessible.

Edge requires you re-input Windows password to reveal any stored passwords. That said, I've switched off Edge saving and replaying passwords, preferring Bitwarden.1
