Car Rental in Florida

Hi when visiting USA from the UK I usually rent a car through either the airline or one of the numerous sites that sort out suppliers and prices for me. Can anyone answer this question.... If my son, who lives in Florida (US driving licence) rents a car in Florida, can I (UK visitor) be added to that rental? The question revolves around the insurance aspect. When I did drive his own car last year his insurer said I was ok because the insurance follows the car not the driver. Not sure how a rental agreement would see it?

I have but Florida life is slow and laid back, so getting any quick response is nigh impossible! I was hoping someone on here might have experienced it before.0
