Utility bills after death of tenants in common

My parents have died but my brother owned a percentage of their home. While we wait for probate and then future selling of their house takes place should all bills come out of their estate or just the share that my parents owned?

Not sure of the answer to this but is your brother living there? was he paying towards bills before your parents died?0

I don’t think there is a correct answer here, what percentage does he own?0

40% and no he has his own home. He didn’t pay towards any bills when they were alive.0

Purely an opinion, having permitted your parents to enjoy the benefit of occupying his 40% share of the house ( presumably rent free ), it would be gracious ( and respectful ) for the estate to bear the entire ongoing running costs of the property pending the final winding up of the estate and decision made about the property's future ( likely sale? ).
Also bear in mind that since the share of the property you inherit will be capital gains tax free, but your brother will face CGT at 28% on any profit he makes on his 40% share, he is paying an additional price ( by way of tax) for his generosity.
The estate continuing to bear the entire utility bills, insurance costs etc until disposal, is small recompense to him in the circumstances.2 -
Thank you. I hadn’t thought of it in that way.2
