I would look at recent reviews of the T2 lounge before giving up any of my hard earned cash, even with a discount voucher.

That is true, not all lounges are worth the premium price.

I read a review of a number of lounges recently, I think in the travel section of a national newspaper.  Overall opinion seemed to be that they aren't worth the money.

I used to like them because you could always find a comfortable seat, they were quiet to allow me to work and they offered a few decent snacks. Sadly the last time I was in some people had luggage sprawled across multiple seats, their brats were running around screaming and the snacks were small packs of biscuits and peanuts. I could get the same at a zoo.

Most pay-per-entry ones aren't worth the money especially at the cheaper end of the market. You may be better off spending the same amount in a Wetherspoons or Costa.

Airline lounges are usually very different and can only be accessed through frequent flier status or ticket class. The problem comes at airports where the airline doesn't have its own lounge (or a partner one) and you get dumped into the paid entry ones.
