Why would a Retiree struggle to get Commute Insurance ??

Mustbeananswer??

Of course it may be because he doesnt have a job.
If the Retiree was hoping to take his Partner who is still working to work would they need Commute Insurance??They live seperately (is that an issue please??). Insurance has got far far far too complicated now. When I was growing up it was Comprehensive(everything covered) if you could afford it....Third Party if you were skint??

I would say it's SD&P, not commuting1

Speak to the insurer you want to buy from, as per the other thread on the same topic it is debatable.
I remember my parents arguing over insurance in the 80s over if the garage was for storing cars or junk (mothers words) and her concern that they'd declared the cars were kept in the garage when in reality they were on the driveway.
Oddly old insurance docs dont get posted online very often but did come across one example from the early 1950s where the broker was asking the date of import for a car to be insured and so unless you are close to your centenial then there were more questions than comp or TP1 -

It is going to be insurer dependent so you will need to ask.
An external article that says exactly this is https://www.mustard.co.uk/car-insurance-guides/insurance-classes-of-use-explained/
However I don't see why it should be difficult for a retiree to get SDP&C cover without it actually costing more so may be a moot point anyway.0
