just tested it on this laptop after selecting safe mode i got a similar list scrolling down the screen for a few seconds before it entered into windows safemode (looks like the normal windows desktop except with lousy graphics ect?)0 -
There is no point in trying safe mode, as your computer is stuck in a loop during boot.
Either there are corrupt files on the hard disc or the hard disc is !!!!!!ed. There is a small possibility if you have added any extra hardware (scanner, usb camera etc) this is causing your problems so try removing anything that does not need to be plugged in i.e. you keyboard, mouse and monitor (and mains)
If its been switched off at the mains, I would say a critical system file has been corrupted (possibly a registry file).
Either way what you need is an XP boot disc. You may have got one with your computer. Not the wipe everything and reinstall, but the windows XP CD. You need to put this in and press any key when prompted to 'boot from cd'.
Once loaded you can try the command prompt (recovery console) and run chkdsk on the C drive to check for errors, or if that went over you head, then press enter to install XP and THEN select repair existing install. This will fix your XP without deleting any files but you may need to reinstall some software eg office. This is a much better option than a clean install as all your drivers and settings and personal files will still be in place.
Cheers
