Advice on Buildings Insurance on Inherited House

I inherited my mum's house, when she died, with my sister. We reached a legal agreement that my mum's partner can live in the house until he dies or decides to move out. He does not pay rent so is not a tenant & we are not landlords. I'm struggling to get buildings insurance as neither of us live in the property. This situation is not unusual but does not seem to be covered by normal insurance cover. Does anyone have any advice?

you need a specialist insurer. I was in same position. I used Adrian Flux, but I am sure there are others. It was a bit more expensive than standard insurance but it covered the circumstances we needed until the house was sold

As partner is still living there, could they not take insurance out for both buildings & contents & then you pay the building side back to them?
