hi, i have four pieces of cooked meat in my fridge, 2 gammon and pork were cooked on xmas eve and 2 beef and turkey were cooked on xmas day, but we were all ill and didnt eat anything. we are much better today but i wanted to know if you would eat these or throw them now. has it been too long. thanks in advance for any help. it seems like such a waste as i have alredy thrown away the cheesecakes, small cakes, sauages, porkpies, scotch eggs and other stuff that had passed use by dates.

personally, I would bin the pork, eat the rest today or slice it all up and freeze for another day. I would normally eat or freeze all meat within 3 days of cooking it, I do however make an acception with gammon and have been known to use that at 4 days, I go on the assumption that it is salted so should keep better.
Sorry to hear you were ill over the xmas, rotten luck!Away with the fairies.... Back soon0 -
thanks for that

Hi
I was just about to post a similar question!
Can I put meat that was cooked on xmas eve (Ham) & xmas day (turkey) in the freezer today? It has been sliced and in the fridge since. I thought we would have eaten it all by now but we haven't and since joining this site I can't bear to throw anything away!!
Thanks

If it smells bad then it probably is, but we have roast beef that has been in the fridge since last Sunday which we are having cold with pickles tonight along with the left over turkey. Unless your fridge hasnt been working properly it should be fine. You will know when it is off as it will stink when you open the fridge.
And for craftycrofty, yes I would still freeze it.Mortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!0 -
In normal circumstances I would agree with all above posts, but on this occasion I would be more inclined to freeze the meat for use at a later date. Although, I'm sure it would be safe enough to meat now. As the op has been ill all weak, their immune system will probably be lower than normal.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member # 593 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts!0

We've stripped down our turkey tonight. It's been in the fridge from Christmas day afternoon (it was cooked in the morning).
I've frozen the leftover meat, and the carcass is fermenting in the slow cooker to make stock for soup.0 -
Im doing the same freezing my leftover turkey today as I dont fancy any more of it. were still going strong on the xmas day cooked ham though as its salted. Make sure the turkey is thoroughly cooked through when you eat it though - chop it small and stick it in a sauce to get it really hot.0
