Car insurance renewal - Too early to discuss?

Good morning,

My car insurance is due for renewal with Admiral on 05/06/24. Am aware prices have increased, so wanted to get quotes early to make as much of a saving as possible. Already got a few quotes via Moneysupermarket.

I called Admiral this morning to discuss, however they say it's "too early," and that my renewal documents are not available yet?  They advised me to contact them again on 14th May to discuss?

Does this seem reasonable, or a delaying tactic? Anyone else come across this? I am just conscious of the time sensitive nature of car renewal quotes, and am concerned the delay will cost me money in the long run!

Many thanks

Most insurers generate renewals 20-28 days before renewal date so for most you would be early. Generally insurers honour quotes for a few weeks and so holding the other quotes until the incumbent naturally generate their offer isn't an issue.
