    The better approach in this situation would be to calculate what your correct bill would be and pay that instead of the amount they billed and failed to correct. When they finally accept they were wrong, the marker would be incorrect as there wouldn’t have been any late payment.

    When nothing is paid toward the fuel type billed incorrectly when clearly something is owed, that payment was late is a fact and it cannot be guaranteed that the marker will be removed. You were due compensation for their error and failure to act on your repeated requests to correct it, but potentially got lucky with them ordering the marker to be removed as well.
