Delivery of fridge/freezer and washer/dryer to 3rd floor (no lift) - help!

I live in a 3 storey house with appliances on 2nd floor. It's amazing how effective crisp £10 notes are in getting past Health and Safety.4

John Lewis might be the way I end up going, having just got this back from Live Chat:
"Thank you, I check and I can confirm her we can deliver to your area. But if you think we our delivery crew cannot take the order to the 3rd floor as there is no lift, we can suggest you to please call our Customer delivery resolution team here 03452 661 80 6 lines are open Monday - Friday = 6:30am to 10pm Saturday = 6:30am to 7pm as they will book a 3 men to take the order to your room."
A 3-man delivery crew sounds like they just might be able to do it! I shall see!0 -
If John Lewis don't sort it I second the suggestions of hiring a local furniture removers. They do things like this all day every day, and if you can be flexible about the timing of the delivery you may find they can give you a pretty good price.
Rather than having the suppliers deliver to the bottom of the stairs, I'd just find a local store/appliance warehouse type place with something suitable in stock, and either meet the movers there or pay for it for later collection.
A relative did similar when delivery people told her it was "impossible" to deliver a sofa to the room she wanted due to a staircase with a corner on it. What had been impossible for the delivery crew turned out to be the work of five minutes for the pros.

We had a fridge freezer and a washing machine delivered to the 2nd floor with no lift. John Lewis was the only one we found willing to do it. All the others we tried said kerbside delivery. This was 10 years ago and John Lewis were price matching in those days so it did not cost any more than their competitors.0

Try Marks electrical - you tell them when you order what floor you are on and they will charge you for this - surprisingly it wasn’t that much more expensive0

It does depend heavily on the people you get on the day though! The heavier washing machine was delivered first and the guys took it up and the old washer/dryer down without any material complaints or hint at it being a problem. Next day the much lighter tumble dryer arrived with a different crew but this guy said he'd give it a go but if its too hard they'll abandon it and he doesn't care what's on the job sheet; said there's not way he'd have done the washer if he'd been the delivery guy the day before.
Had a 120kg that had to go to 4th floor, no lift and that was a kerbside only delivery option. Spoke to a local removals company about one of their teams swinging by after finishing a nearby job to get it up the stairs. Paid a very reasonable price but did feel guilty about one of the chaps who was limping badly after a glass injury the day before.0 -
Thought I would update on this for future readers!
After two weeks of fighting with Currys to get them to reinstate my order as they cancelled it and then put the price up £200... I have today had my new washer/dryer delivered!
I had picked up a stair-climbing trolley, rated to carry 150kg, to bring up the stairs myself only for this morning the Currys delivery guys to just grab the machine and take it straight upstairs without any issue whatsoever!
Asked the lead delivery guy about what their rules were and whether they would deliver a 105kg fridge/freezer in the same circumstances and he said he would do it without any issues— provided it wasn't an American fridge/freezer as those are obviously double width so not viable to move upstairs, which is completely fair enough!
Seems to be very much a pot luck situation when it comes to delivery when you don't have a lift, and despite my being ready to take it upstairs myself— this Currys team came through for me!
Next up: waiting for the fridge/freezer to come back in stock so I can order it! We shall see if that ends up being me using my shiny new stair-climbing trolley or whether the delivery crew just steam straight up the stairs with it!
A couple of additional bits:- Got it for the original price again that I had ordered for
- Got a courtesy payment of £30 on the way from Currys for the whole situation of their team just driving off without even talking to me (waiting on this to land!)
