Annemos said:Just to say, I shall shortly have to look for a new one, too.
My HP is about 7 years old. It seems to be slower and slower and stalls when I am following videos that people have made. (It seems to enter a sleep mode and then takes ages to shift into gear once a video has ended.) I am not an expert, but the CPU goes to 100% utilisation when it stalls.
I also have the impression that Windows Edge is far too big for it. Especially if I have more than two tabs open.
Now they have told us that Windows 10 will stop being supported in October 2025. So that is when I shall have to give up on this one! And look for an alternative. I shall need to find out if I can get around the CPU issue with a new one.
(I need to print documents sometimes. Surf the web. No gaming or fancy things!)
Good luck Poster.

I got a Asus Vivobook on ebay from AO.com in feb with 20% ebay discount totalling £274 delivered in less than 24 hours.
Amazon is £450 today and AO has increased its price/has a slightly different model.
Here is a refurb for £324 around what AO was selling it for at £339 earlier this year

Refurb 300nit 16" screen ,good ryzen 5 (some are not),upgradable ram ,win11 ,black keys/keyboard so you can see the letters .
Yes you can find fault with any laptop but this is alot for less cost ...your either going to pay the piper ....or you dont .
You can get it for 399 new with a bigger harddrive online at AO

Yes the dells sold with a discount in my link.
If a buyer cant find a new laptop deal via a lack of knowing whats needed or being vague then buying used will be a even longer road .
Either that or they walk into Currys and get ripped off.
John Lewis is better but still costly of course although instore they may have reduced returns if you ask although it is a hit or miss luck type of thing .1 -

You can upgrade it to make it usable, by replacing the slow spinning disk storage and slotting in an extra memory module.

£20 to £40 will cover the cost of the parts
