Question about Apple ID

Hello all. I hope you can help me with this. 

My Dad has an iPhone SE, the original 2016 version which used to be my Mom’s phone. My Mom now has the iPhone 8 which belonged to my daughter. 

My question is regarding the Apple ID - when he had the phone which was a couple of years ago, I reset the phone and made an Apple ID for my Dad Using a new email address. 

The correct Apple ID is showing in the settings. I have tried everything I can think of, but I am trying to update WhatsApp on the phone, but when I click on update, the phone asks for Apple ID password, but the email that comes up is my Mom’s, I haven’t tried putting in my Mom’s password, as I don’t know what it is. 

Is there any way for me to work around this please? My Dad has a call relating to his blue badge application on 12th June and this may be a video call using Whatsapp. But as I said, WhatsApp won’t open until I perform the update and it just keeps quoting the wrong AppleID. I realise the phone is really old and will I even be able to update WhatsApp or other apps, as I know eventually they cease to work unless you have a minimum IOS version, as that happened on an iPad we have here. 

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

It's beacuse whatsapp was origianlly installed using that email - do you know the password iCloud password for your mums account? If you do that, when you open whatsapp it will be for the number on the sim card not your mums.

Ok, I will get Mom’s password (will be this weekend when I see them both) and try that.

iPhone allows you to log into different components of the system with different UserIDs 

What will be easier is to delete WhatsApp that was previously installed under your mothers username and then reinstall it with your farther logged into the App Store otherwise you'll be needing the different passwords each time its to be updated. 

Its a useful feature at times because IDs are regionalised so you can get round it by having additional IDs, say US or Japan, if you either spend a lot time there or want apps that are locked to those regions (eg HBO Max)... makes up a bit for not side loading apps
