I would like to buy on gumtree sent buy post, worth a punt for low cost items?

I refuse to use ebay any more.

Gumtree I was happy to read there is no protection for buyer or seller. Why you say? because that is the exact reason I left ebay due to their unfair siding with scamming buyers.

Being a man of principle I prefer NO protection than unfair protection for buyers.

I wouldn't buy something over maybe 30 quid but there is something there for a fiver and they were not offering to send by post and actually refused saying too much hasstle but that indicates not a scam right?

I am thinking offer to pay more for sending by post.

My current options are buy new for 40 quid or take a punt and offer 10 and to pay postage.

Item is 4g dongle. Quite hard to get them except on new contracts which I don't want or on ebay which I no longer use or new for said price above.

It just rubbed me the wrong way to still use ebay after being scammed twice by obvious abusers of ITEM NOT AS DESCRIBED. I fully accept that they very thing that would protect me as a buyer would be missing if buying on gumtree but my values will remain pure.
