OK, fair enough, apologies if I was misinformed - all the links to the George Cole ads on YouTube are labelled as relating to the Leeds Building Society, but maybe those who tagged that were mistaken!

This comment needs to be cleared up as its confusing.

Tracing companies are used by pension schemes to locate people.    If it's one of those, they will give you the details to get in contact.     Why a tracing company would contact you asking you to do the tracing seems a bit bizarre.

Quite - isn't that what OP has instructed (?paid) them to do? If so, I'd go back and say you [OP] will give them a letter of authority to make enquiries on OP's behalf.
