Neighbour using my sewer

I am thinking of having my driveway redone but there is a manhole cover by my fence that slopes down from my neighbours side. This is for their sewer, but after investigating this is because they had their bathroom moved and hijacked my sewer, the council say it isn't up to regs and should not be there and my deeds say all drains and sewer pipes are private so my responsibility. Is there anything I can do , to have the drain altered or moved? Thanks

Speak to your water company. What you have here is a shared sewer and the water company should have the responsibly for the shared part. I had Two houses feeding into mine at my last house and Anglia Water would come out and fix blockages free of charge.Ask them what there records show, and what needs to be done if your neighbours did illegally.1

This would be better posted in this forum.
