what to do in this case....

hi
I bought one item from one of the ebay online shop, at that time his feedback was not good ,but most of the people wrote that it's shame he hasn't got paypal, only that.
I bought the item on 17th and rang him up how to pay , he gave me details for bank transfer and i did that. on 18th i got mail from ebay saying this seller has been removed from ebay (null and void ) don't pay or if already paid wait for the item. I rang these guys ,they are nicely spoken people and gave ,me the track number of the item they posted
Till now i haven't recieved the item but on royal mail it was showing before x-mas as valid track number ,but now it shows as number too long.
How can claim the amount from this guy thru ebay. any advice please.

  • I'm afraid that as you paid by bank transfer you will have no protection and are unlikely to see your money again. E-bay are unlikely to help. Maybe someone with better advice will be along soon. Not sure about the tracking number being okay at one point and then too long. Maybe custardy will be along to advise. Sorry!
  • thats why he awsked for bank transfer without paypal you dont really have a leg stand on, also for him to use paypal would need bank detaiils his home address confirming etc you cant fake that kinda stuff so hes un tracable also ui word of advice never send postal orders/cheques to a PO BOX address as i did once ad the guy was selling things he didnt even have for sale collecting oney from post box

Try contacting the bank and tell them you have been victim to a fraud, they MAY help

Your only recourse is a difficult one through small claims.

Poor feedback plus bank transfer = problem

  • As others have said...paying by Bank transfer just about absolves eBay from any responsibility on the protection front.

The warning signs were there for you....no Paypal and bad feedback. People don't leave bad feedback just because you don't have Paypal....they leave it because you're unreliable etc.

Fingers crossed your goods turn up via RM.
if i had known then what i know now
  • Hi, im in the same situation.

davidlewisuk had excellent feedback and for items over 500 pounds. He didn't have paypal and had posted a video on why (saying they rob you) was off you tube.
I spoke to him on his mobile and got his bank details for transfer, seemed liked a genuine guy.
Ebay then emailed advising me to contact the police if used bank transfer, by then the funds had already cleared. I phoned him and he advised the item would still be sent and he had ben taken off ebay for the video.
The police have just been and taken all details and emails, we know there isn't alot they can do but were hoping we are not the only ones and if so things will be done.
I still try to phone David Lewis but no luck, he does however still email when I ask him 'Where the bloody hell is my item' but all I got is merry Christmas regardless, not even an explanation B*****D!!!

    NEVER USE BANK TRANSFER!!!!

    You are not covered!

Ebay tell you that you are not covered by bank transfers that why so many of us will only use paypal backed by a credit card.

Youc an filter out auctions where paypal is not accepted so you never need see them again. Just click the box on the left hand margin which states 'must take paypal' before you browse.
