Should I submit a complaint to Octopus
Earlier in the year I was moved from Shell to Octopus after the buy out. When I was with Shell I would track my usage every few days just so I could get an idea of how much my bill would be.
Since the move to Octopus however I have had no end of issues, the electricity tracker on the smart meter is fine but the gas one has caused me no end of issues with Octopus even though I never had any issues with Shell. I have rung them constantly over the last few months saying that when I go on my online account there is no usage on my gas meter. The constant response I had from Octopus was basically “let’s see how it goes over the next few days” but the issue still didn’t correct itself.

Then in April I realised my bill was only for electricity not gas so I rang Octopus and found out they’d not billed me for gas for nearly two months so then I had a large bill to pay. I was then told the issues with my gas smart meter were now sorted, which it seemed to be. Fast forward to mid April and the gas smart meter stopped showing usage again and it looks like I’ve used no gas since 15th April which I know isn’t true. So again I rang Octopus and they said they were still getting readings and again just said “let’s see how it goes over the next few days” regarding usage not showing on my account.
However I have since received my bill and again I haven’t been charged for gas. I really am getting to the end of my tether with Octopus, I was with Shell for nearly 18 months and never had to ring them once but Octopus have been shambolic. Would it be worthwhile raising a complaint with them as nothing seems to be getting sorted? My girlfriend is due to give birth in a matter of weeks now and I don’t want to be stressing about things like this when I’ll be trying to help my girlfriend after she’s had a c-section.
