Shaving off the years at Sleepy Hollow

  • Well another car bites the dust. Savings hadn't recovered thanks to car repair costs & got a whole 2 months from the runaround despite it having a years mot.

My dad has very kindly given me sole use of his car until I can gather together a decent deposit for something much newer.

Still cracking on with the mortgage overpayments, Christmas is going to plan so far & mortgage rates look like they're starting to improve!! We're due for renewal in July and considering a 5 year fix this time depending on rates!

Private sale. Looking back (hindsight obviously a great thing) the guy knew rightly it was absolutely not road worthy. I still can't work out how it passed MOT. We are in NI so our MOTs are all in test centres so it's very strict. The car had a severe oil leak from the day I got it, was in the garage 3 times with 2 different mechanics and no one could fix it. The final straw was when it cut out coming down a steep hill, I had the youngest in the car and was on my way to pick up the oldest. I was trying to start it and guy came over to tell me there was a significant amount of fuel coming out from the car 🙈 turned out there was also a bracket missing from the battery and the recovery guy said if I'd hit a bump and it sparked it would have went on fire because there was fuel all over the engine.

As you can imagine I was completely traumatised with such a young child in the car. It went to the garage and I paid for the fuel leak to be fixed and the mechanic told me to get rid of it because the engine was knackered 🙈 so ended up scrapping it because I couldn't pass it on to someone else knowing the problems it had & I am so drained and traumatised from the whole experience I literally can't bring myself even to look for something else 🙈 my dad has kindly lent me his car so I'm trying to figure out if we could manage with one car as DH works 5mins away and I mostly work from home. School isn't within walking distance so that's the tricky part & the odd client visit too.

It's been a fun few months lol.
