Record free streamed programs ?

ITVx, all4, my5 etc may be free but can be unwatchable due to ridiculously long and frequent advert breaks. Is there a way to record them ?
Incidentally, I’ve noticed that there are fewer adverts outside peak hours. I wonder how advert slots are allocated, given that no-one knows when and by how many people programs will be watched ?

I found ITVx unwatchable; I persevered through one series I was watching, but haven't gone back there again.(I would just mute the sound whilst the ads were on and browse on my iPad or do something for the 5 minutes interruption.)I suppose I should thank them for helping me find other things to do than watch TV!For recording, I bought a Freesat recorder and just press the record button on that if I think a programme might be interesting.0

This is the issue if "free" is the requirement - ads.
I hate ads too, so pay for ITVX premium (£5.99 a month / £59.99 for a year) and avoid the adverts on there completely.

Record them with the xbox game bar thingie.Turn off all the system sounds, notifications & adverts, fullscreen the webplayer, press windows + G then fiddle about killing windows for "socials" etc.It worked beautifully on Win 10, no doubt Microsoft broke it for Win 11, I haven't used it since I "upgraded" to Win 11..Then if you want to keep it use lossless cut to snip out the advert breaks, and run it through handbrake- 1080p HEVC10 @ 3500kb/s is fine, as it records at screen resolution and about 10,000Kb/s- you can just watch it as is and skip the interminable advert breaks if you want. You have to leave it playing with the sound blaring out in another room, or just take The Dog for a nice walk...
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)

I've found the opposite. 🤔
Since watching free channels via firestick, we seem to get less adverts than live TV (old sky box still works as receiver)How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.98% of current retirement "pot" (as at end April 2025)0 -
